Bolivia Hop – #1 Bus Company In Bolivia
As well as an unbeatable safety record, Bolivia Hop is also famous for its punctuality and comfort. In South America, where things often run later than scheduled, we are very proud to say we achieve a 98.5% on-time arrival for each trip.
If comparing Bolivia Hop to other bus companies, make sure you check their safety record, past accidents, as well as their Tripadvisor page (if they even bother to have one) as often you will find there is a reason why some bus companies have “cheaper” prices than Bolivia Hop.
Our Buses on the Peruvian side
- 40 semi-bed reclining seats: All with sponge foam pads for added comfort.
- Modern and clean toilet: Unlike public buses that often smell bad and are not cleaned regularly.
- High-tech temperature controlled air system: We ensure it is never too hot or too cold.
- 3 LCD TVs on board: Just sit back and enjoy English-speaking movies on longer journeys.
- Highest quality brake and suspension system: To ensure that every passenger has a smooth and seamless journey.
- Blankets for every passenger: Snuggle up and get some sleep on longer trips.
- GPS monitoring system: Allows us to track our buses every step of the way and monitor driver velocity.
- USB ports on every seat: Charge your phone or any device throughout your whole trip.
Our Buses on the Bolivian side
- 37 semi-bed reclining seats: Other companies try to cram 40+ seats on these smaller Bolivian buses.
- Big duvet blankets for every passenger: Snuggle up and get some sleep on longer trips.
- LCD TVs: Just sit back and enjoy English speaking movies on longer journeys.
- A well-qualified Bolivian driver: Knows all the roads well and gets plenty of rest, unlike on other companies.
- Lake crossing capabilities between Copacabana and La Paz: Our bus is purposely built for crossing the lake. Don’t worry, passengers cross on a different boat. Some companies put passengers on the bus as it floats across the lake to try save some money, which is CRAZY!
- Does NOT include an onboard toilet as the bus cannot be bigger due to weight restrictions involved in crossing Lake Titicaca between Copacabana and La Paz (buses need to float across the Lake). NO COMPANY operating this route has an onboard toilet due to these size restrictions. Public toilets ARE available at the Strait of Tiquina, the crossing point of the lake (one hour from Copacabana, 2hours 30 from La Paz).
Bus Safety
- Large team of drivers: Our drivers are not overworked/tired as is often the case on other buses.
- Tour guide onboard: Our tour guide does regular checks on the drivers.
- Seatbelts: We have a seatbelt for every passenger and ask our passengers to wear them at all times.
- 24 hour GPS monitoring: Every bus is monitored from a secure point via GPS…we always know where the bus is and if it is taking any unscheduled stops.
- Constant contact: The drivers and the guide communicate continuously by telephone with the Bolivia Hop and Peru Hop office.
- No tight deadlines: Our drivers are under NO pressure to arrive at a certain time, no need for increased speed or unnecessary risks.
- Lake crossing capabilities between Copacabana and La Paz Our bus is purposely built for crossing the lake. Don’t worry, passengers cross on a different boat. Some companies put passengers on the bus as it floats across the lake to try save some money, which is CRAZY!

What exactly is a hop-on, hop-off bus?
Our buses follow a specific route and you can hop-on and hop-off at each of our destinations whenever you like, according to our timetable. Your pass is valid for 1 year in 1 direction, so you can stay as long as you want in 1 place or just follow our recommended schedule!
How do I change my itinerary while on the road?
Once you book a ticket, you will get your unique reservation code on your booking confirmation that gives you access to the HOP LOGIN. There, you'll be able to change your travel dates, pick-up locations and put your pass on hold. It's that simple! All changes to your itinerary have to be made a MINIMUM OF 12 HOURS BEFORE YOUR NEXT DEPARTURE DATE!
How do I book extra tours?
We accept tour reservations on our buses but we always recommend reserving tours in advance and paying securely online via FindLocalTrips.com to avoid costly ATM withdrawal fees and currency exchange rate charges.
Is Peru Hop available for everybody?
Families, single travelers, couples and groups of friends of all ages are welcome to join us traveling through Peru. Our buses always carry a mix of people from different countries and age groups, that’s what makes traveling with Peru Hop such a great experience.
Booking in Advance?
We are proud that word of mouth from our ex-hopsters means our tickets often sell out in advance, so we strongly recommend you book as soon as possible. Remember that once you have a ticket, you can change your start date up to 24 hours before departure.
Do the buses run on time?
Peru Hop is an EXTREMELY punctual service, especially compared to other Peruvian bus companies who are unfortunately late a lot (as can be seen from their tripadvisor reviews). If you have a tour or hotel booked and in the very rare case our bus is late, our onboard guides will help you by calling your tours and hotels to assist you as much as possible, but really this should never happen on Peru Hop.
